The Challenge
The Colorado Renaissance Festival is a 49-year institution in Larkspur — a large seasonal event running weekends from June through August, with an enormous surface area of content: ticketing, themed weekends, a full vendor and merchant directory, stage shows, kids activities, royal eateries, a festival map, travel and accommodations, and weddings and special events. A site like this serves first-time day-trippers planning a visit, returning fans, and vendors all at once, and the festival team needs to manage a constantly shifting seasonal calendar themselves — without calling a developer for every change.
The Solution
We built the festival's site on WordPress with the Kadence theme so the team can own and update the sprawling seasonal content directly. The information architecture organizes a huge amount of material into clean planning paths — from 'what is this' straight to buying tickets — with dedicated areas for themed weekends, the merchant directory across every craft category, stage programming, the festival map, and travel details. Mobile-friendly for day-of visitors navigating the grounds, and structured for event SEO so the festival is discoverable each season.
The Results
A content-rich, self-manageable festival hub that the team updates across a seasonal calendar.
A clear path from discovery to ticket purchase.
A full vendor directory and event program that scales with the breadth of a 49-year festival.
